PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 11TH 2022

In the spring of 2015, Trevor J. Brown wanted to create something to house all of his artistic loves including podcasts, music, art, photography, books and film. After much thought and indecision on what to call the endeavor (did you know there are other creators/artists named Trevor J. Brown? That is why he didn’t name the company after himself), Inherent Dream was born, however, not official. Brown launched this website on September 1st of 2015 and he also hosted his very first podcast. The podcast, at the time, was named Another Round with Trevor Brown and the podcast name and the podcast itself, would evolve over the years.

From September 2015 to October 22nd 2022, Inherent Dream was Brown’s side-hustle. Through this time, Inherent Dream hosted photography and art exhibits on this website, the Another Round podcast grew organically (and was later renamed to The Trevor J. Brown Show) and Inherent Dream Records was established. Through this time, Brown recorded and produced a variety of music. He released two solo efforts including Strawberry (2019) and Darkroom (2020). With Chairman of the Bored he released the albums Imaginary Friends (2020) and also This Is Our Flag! (2022). Throughout 2018 he worked with his dad on the project T&V and recorded the low-fi album Test Patterns, which was released in December of that year.

But perhaps the biggest project Brown would produce during these “side-hustle” years was the Food & Song compilation albums. This was a passion project of Brown’s. The idea was to combine two of Brown’s loves… food and music, all while helping local communities. Brown worked with a variety of musicians from around Minnesota and the upper midwest. The musicians donated a track and Brown assembled a compilation album that was sold on Bandcamp. Along with Brown himself, some of the acts that appeared on the albums included Capital Sons, Bob and Amy Luetmer and their bands Elsie’s Room and Crunchie Undies, She’s My Sister and Chairman of the Bored.  After taxes and transaction fees, the proceeds were then donated to local food shelves across Minnesota. From 2017-2022, four Food & Song compilation albums were released and over $1,000 was raised for local food shelves. Donations were made to local food shelves in Minnesota including in the cities of Milaca, Zimmerman, Elk River, Princeton and Moose Lake.

After much thought, prayer and a spiritual experience in South Dakota (ask him about it), Brown decided to make the leap and take Inherent Dream from a side-hustle to the main-hustle. On October 26th 2022, Inherent Dream became official (paperwork filed). Brown quit his day job and on November 11th 2022, Brown officially started working for himself.

NOVEMBER 12TH 2022 - December 31ST 2022

During the final months of 2022, Brown established The Inherent Dream Podcast Network, which would be home to not only The Trevor J. Brown Show but also a new podcast called 763 The Local Morning Show, which would debut in the new year. Initial advertisers were secured, partnerships were formed and excitement was brewing.

2023

On January 2nd, 763 The Local Morning Show podcast officially launched. Branded as an “ode to hometown radio”, 763 The Local Morning Show would feature news, information, weather, sports, a community calendar segment, interviews and spotlights on local businesses, with a focus on the communities of Zimmerman, Elk RIver, Milaca and Princeton, Minnesota, along with surrounding communities.

The Trevor J. Brown Show saw a slight format change, with the introduction of a longer-form interview. Some of the guests Trevor interviewed included a NY Times Bestselling Author, an Emmy Winner, along with countless musicians, authors, business owners, fellow podcasters, world travelers, mentors and friends. Trevor also introduced “Trevor’s Parting Gift”, a commentary segment as an ode to the likes of Andy Rooney and Jerry Springer.

On June 30th (same day as Brown’s birthday), he released an EP of music called Mammoth. Featuring five tracks and recorded over the span of two years, the EP was inspired by acts like Nine Inch Nails, The Radio Dept, Radiohead and Kraftwerk. Also on this date, in celebration of Inherent Dream’s roughly six month mark and Brown’s actual birthday, a celebration with pizza and family occurred.

In November, Inherent Dream held a local food drive and with the help of the local communities, roughly 200 items were donated between Passing The Bread in Zimmerman and The Milaca Area Pantry in Milaca.

Also in November, Inherent Dream celebrated its “official” first birthday. Treats were consumed and there may have been noise makers. HAHA :)

The Inherent Dream Podcast Network saw an increase in listenership of 49% from November 2022 to the end of 2023. 27 businesses sponsored the content at one point or another or throughout 2023.
